Description
Nicolas Henchoz is the founder and director of the Design Research Centre at the Ecole Polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL+ECAL Lab). An engineer, journalist, art director and researcher, he has developed a new vision of innovation that enhances adoption and lasting impact. This is a real necessity, as shown by the failures of numerous proposals such as Metavers, NFTs and augmented reality glasses. The methodology brings together science, engineering, design and psychology. Not only to create novel proposals that respond to contemporary challenges, but also to understand the drivers of adoption. The projects focus on health, the environment and cultural heritage. They are carried out within the framework of European consortia, industrial partnerships and collaborations with public and private institutions. They give rise to implemented solutions, to knowledge about human perception validated by academic publications, and also to training courses and exhibitions. Nicolas Henchoz has more than 30 exhibitions to his credit at venues including the Royal College of Art, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, Harvard University and the American Institute for Architecture in New York. In 2023 and 2024 he was one of the chairmen of SIGGRAPH, in the United States, the world conference for digital image and interaction techniques.
The French Minister of Culture and Communication awarded her the title of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres.
