Jean-François Clappaz
COMMUNAUTE DE COMMUNES LE GRESIVAUDAN
Vice-président en charge de l'économie, du développement industriel et de la stratégie foncière
Description
Jean-François Clappaz was born in Tullins. Family history would have had him destined for the mechanical professions. His father ran the Clappaz company in Montbonnot, which specialised in the machining of precision, high-tech parts. But he ended up studying law and IT. With his degree in hand, he spent 10 years working for the Grenoble social housing office as director of rental management. In 1995, at the request of his father, who wanted to take a well-earned rest, he took over the management of the family business, which he ran for more than 20 years. In 2018, there was a change of direction and a change of universe, as the Isère département appointed him to manage the economic development of the aero-industrial hub at Grenoble-Alpes-Isère airport. Municipal career In 1995, he joined André Eymery, the mayor of Montbonnot at the time, with whom he served his first term as a councillor before being appointed deputy for economy and finance in 2001 on André Eymery's list, a seat he still holds today. Drawing on his professional experience, he was entrusted with the development of the Inovallée business park.
Jean-François Clappaz's commitment to the region Jean-François Clappaz and the intercommunal community have a long history. In 2009, he became deputy vice-president in charge of economic promotion. In 2014, he took his seat on the Community Council and in 2020, Henri Baile offered him the vice-presidency in charge of the economy and industrial development. Here again, his experience and professional background will be an asset. "Given the current health situation, we're going to have to be innovative in terms of engineering, and it's our duty to do everything we can to save the companies that come to us. We also need to be able to identify those who are afraid to ask for help. I'm well aware of these difficulties and it's a subject that's close to my heart, which is why I'm keen to support them and show them that they're not alone and that the communauté de communes has a real role to play in this area. Another major project is the need for land reserves. "We're nearing the end of our 'stock', so we need to get things moving, and convince the mayors and the SCOT that the need for new industrial land is vital to the vitality of the Grésivaudan area, as well as the Grenoble urban area as a whole.
