Description
Geneviève FIORASO, former Minister for Higher Education and Research, Honorary Member of Parliament for Isère Her career has been marked by both public and private involvement in innovation, research and the public policies that support them. She began her career as a parliamentary assistant to Hubert Dubedout, the deputy mayor of Grenoble, before spending 6 years at the helm of a CEA-Tech start-up specialising in the simulation of high-risk industrial processes. After 5 years in the office of the Mayor of Grenoble, she went on to set up and run the Agence Rhône-Alpes du numérique (Rhône-Alpes Digital Agency), then became head of social-health marketing for a telecoms operator. In 2001, she became involved in politics as an elected official: deputy mayor of Grenoble and 1st vice-president of the Grenoble metropolitan area, responsible for the economy, higher education and innovation. In this capacity, she was founder and director of the SEM Minatec entreprises for 10 years, then co-piloted the GIANT committee for local authorities. Elected Member of Parliament for Isère in 2007, she joined the OPECST (Office Parlementaire des Choix Scientifiques et Technologiques) and wrote two reports on innovation and synthetic biology. Appointed Minister and then Secretary of State for Higher Education and Research by President François Hollande from 2012 to 2015, she returned to parliament and published a report on the future of French space.
Since 2017, she has chaired the strategic council of ESPI, a European space think-tank set up in Vienna by ESA, chaired the Institut de Recherche Technologique sur l'aérospatial in Toulouse, and is a member of the scientific council of Universcience, the Fondation Clinatec, the IHU Imagine and Méditerranée Infection, the board of the Fondation de l'Université Grenoble Alpes, Sciences Po Grenoble, and the commitment committee of Agiradom.
